Classification:
Insecticide
Formulation:
Tebufenozide 20% SC (Suspension Concentrate)
CAS NO:
112410-23-8
USAGE:
Tebufenozide is a non-steroidal ecdysone agonist insecticide. It is used for the
control of lepidopteran pests in a variety of crops such as fruits, vegetables,
cotton, and forestry. It acts by mimicking the action of the insect molting
hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone, causing premature and incomplete molting in
susceptible insects, leading to their death.
Pack size:
500mL, 1L, 5L, 20L/drum, or as required
Crop | Target Pests | Dosage (20% SC) | Application Timing | Remarks |
---|---|---|---|---|
Fruits (e.g., apples) | Codling moth, leafrollers | 1000-1500 mL/ha | At egg-hatch to early larval stage | 1) REI: 12 hrs 2) Max 2 applications/season |
Vegetables (e.g., tomatoes) | Tomato fruitworm, armyworms | 800-1200 mL/ha | When pests are first detected | PHI: 7 days |
Cotton | Bollworms | 1200-1800 mL/ha | At peak egg-laying period | Add adjuvant for better coverage |
Forestry | Gypsy moth, spruce budworm | 1500-2000 mL/ha | During larval feeding stage | Use appropriate spray equipment for large-area application |
Mode of Action:
-Mimics the action of the insect molting hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone
-Induces premature and incomplete molting in susceptible insects
-Affects the normal development and survival of lepidopteran pests
Benefits:
-High selectivity towards lepidopteran pests, minimizing harm to beneficial
insects
-Low toxicity to mammals and birds
-Good residual activity, providing long-term pest control
-Environmentally friendly with relatively low persistence in the environment
Precautions:
-PPE: Chemical-resistant gloves, goggles, and protective clothing
-Do not apply in extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain or high winds
-Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling
-Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight at temperatures
between-10°C to 40°C
Environmental Hazards:
-Low toxicity to aquatic organisms at recommended doses
-Do not contaminate water bodies during application or cleaning of equipment
-Degrades relatively quickly in soil and water
